Some colors calm a room. Some colors energize it.
Peridot does something different... it lightens it.
This month I've been painting and exploring this color, and I wanted to share a little of what it means, because I think it explains why certain pieces of art simply feel different to live with.
A Color of Opportunity
Peridot has been treasured for thousands of years and called "the gem of the sun" by ancient Egyptians, who wore it as protection against negativity, and believed it to invite renewal and clarity.
But what strikes me most is simpler than any of that history.
Peridot just feels like opportunity.
Hopeful, joyful, and a little exciting, the way spring light feels after a long winter.
In the Personal Energy Portraits I've created over the years, this bright, spring green consistently shows up as a symbol of something new forming... not forced, simply ready. Like new grass about to break through the surface of the earth.
A Color of Release
There's another side to peridot worth mentioning.
It's also a color of release, of letting go of old weight, old heaviness, whatever a space (or a season) no longer needs to be held onto.
A painting built around this color doesn't just decorate a room.
It shifts the energy in it and gently invites lightness back in. Clearing away those darker days and making room for dreaming again.

This month's painting carries all of that warmth, brightness, and a kind of quiet hopefulness that I think translates beautifully into a home or office space that could use a little more light in it.
